As a staff member at CIPE, I contributed this blog on March 1, 2012, in preparation for the celebration of International Women’s Day. The blog set CIPE records by attracting more than 2,000 views within the first 48 hours of posting, strategically posted and written to attract the attention of significant female figures in the international business and economic development fields.
My piece, “20 People You Should Be Following on Twitter,” incorporated multiple media channels to ignite conversation about women who set the standard for women’s empowerment: leaders in economics, journalism, government, and entrepreneurship could feel a connection to these women’s accomplishments, which were not just a result of hard work and preparation, but an integral component to the age-old issues of gender equity and women’s empowerment.
